Dr. Shriner has been married to Dr. John F Shriner, Jr, since August 1994. She has two adult sons, Peter and Ian, who have families of their own. Peter and wife, Maggie, have two wonderful daughters, Wiley (age 7) and Mavis (18 months), who are the light of her life. They live in the Asheville, NC area. She loves spending time with ‘the girls’ when they can get together. Ian is married to Kimberly, and they live in the Washington, DC, area.

Dr. Shriner loves to travel, hike, and knit. Each summer, she and her husband travel to a National Park either in the US or Canada and explore the area for around 2 weeks. They enjoy finding the hidden or unknown hiking trail that gets them away from the large crowds. She also is an avid and skilled knitter who has knitted prize winning sweaters, dresses, shawls and blankets.
